COSMETIC LASERS

Cosmetic lasers deliver an intense but gentle beam of light into selected areas of the skin. The laser light is absorbed by specific blood vessels or melanin pigmented areas/cells in the skin. Factors such as the age, color, location, and type of lesion all determine whether lesions can be removed. Lasers can be used to treat lesions that contain blood vessels (“vascular” lesions) such as facial spider veins, redness of the face and neck, rosacea, as well as fine wrinkling, and sun damage. Other vascular lesions such as Port wine stains and hemangiomas can also be treated.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) uses broad spectrum light which filters out harmful unnecessary wavelengths. Some people refer to this as a Photofacial treatment. It can be used to treat vascular lesions, pigmented lesions (freckles, age or liver spots), and unwanted hair.

Both lasers and IPL can be combined with other cosmetic treatments such as Botox, microdermabrasion and fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm to maximize facial rejuvenation.
